I have a question. I was diagnosed with hospital aquird MRSA when I had a spinal fusion in 2005. Once you get MRSA, do you have t for life?

My father had heart bypass surgery yesterday. The patient in the next room has a massive staph infection from a bypass one year ago in the same hospital. He had surgery today and had his sternum removed and some major shavings of some of his ribs. He is currently not on any type of isolation and his family is in and out of the CVICU then also using the same family lounge area. I am very concerned about this but the hospital supervisor was not concerned and said that their hospital does not require isolation precautions for family even if they are in contact with the patient. His chest wound is open and draining and will remain open for up to 6 weeks. What is your feeling on this isolation issue?
